Review: Reminisce – Asalamalekun | Something Serious On Another Level Via #DjInstinct_Blog

Man! This joint is serious on a whole new level. First thoughts on the first listen of this new joint, Asalamelekun (Peace Be Onto You) by Reminisce. He really breaks in 2016 on a very high note (we’ll ignore Angelina that dropped earlier). First thing that hits you on this joint is incredible beat brought to you by Sarz, and it gives you a sense that it was going to be a dope joint as Reminisce has never in his career done nonsense of a Sarz beat. The electronic-EDM-drumline blend is almost heavenly in its composition and arrangement. Even though it’s a hip-hop joint, it could double up as the soundtrack on an action movie. Once that beat sips into your brain, in comes some serious bars from Reminisce. Reminisce does what he’s best at doing, and that’s spitting in English and Yoruba combined. In the lyrics he’s confident bordering on arrogant lyrics that sound like “I will not stop, you niggaz will not breathe… you talk about getting bitches like I aint getting none/ you talk about counting money, like I counting on me/let’s talk about the Guccis, Trussardis and Ferragamos, Versace belt firm enough to hold my fucking ammo.” I mean if that’s Reminisce at his arrogant best, then I’m not sure what is. The first verse almost feels like a middle finger to the doubters and a friendly reminder to the fans who the f*ck he is. The hook balances it out with a friendly greeting in Asalamalekun. READ  New Music: Eva – Kanayo Ft. Phyno & Reminisce (Prod. By TinTin) Overall it’s a very complete song. Dope beat – check, hard bars – check, A+ production – check. Even if it doesn’t end up being his most commercially successful track, it’s right up there with his best work out in the world. It’s one the hip-hop fans in Nigeria can really enjoy, but also some general music fans can vibe with also.
